In 2001, I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (pronounced ank-kih-low-sing spon-dill-eye-tiss), or AS. Although my symptoms aren’t full blown, they are nonetheless, a lifetime factor that I have to deal with.
It started off with consistent pain in my hips and upper neck area. I’d wake up everyday with, what felt like a wrestling match the night before. Slow to get up, lack of energy, discouraged for the rest of the day, it was pretty miserable.
After a visit with my doctor explaining my everyday pains, he had me do some tests and had me visit a chiropractor and a physical therapist.
Because of the various results from the tests, it wasn’t a solid “yes you have AS”. It was more of a, “you definitely have the markings of AS, but your symptoms are not as extreme as people who are 100% diagnosed with AS”.
So there you have it. Do I have AS? Do I not? Whatever the answer, I know that everyday I am in pain. Not debilitating pain that ruins my day, but just enough to be at the forefront of my mind that it’s annoying and takes me away from the focus at hand.
My CBD Passion
After the diagnosis, I was on a mission to mitigate as much pain from my body as possible. I did research on inflammatory foods. Changed my daily routine from sedentary to more active (much more active). Enlisted lots of yoga stretches. As you can see, I ensued upon many holistic approaches to alleviating my painful days. The one thing that I kept doing though, which is the reason why I investigated the use of Cannabidiol (CBD), is that I was taking OTC painkillers daily.
We all know all too well that using OTC painkillers like ibuprofen and acetaminophen as a long term pain maintenance strategy, will have deleterious effects on your organs. I started to get random stomach pains throughout the day. I started to develop irregular bowel movements. I found I was a bit more irritable than usual. My cousin is a chiropractor and he advised me to stop taking them immediately and to investigate the benefits of Cannabidiol as a substitution to ibuprofen and acetaminophen.
I had no idea what CBD was. I couldn’t even spell it! My cousin told me about all of the benefits of this all natural herb. He mentioned that I should start off slow and work my way up to find my “sweet spot” dosage amount. “My what?” Yeah, my conversations were littered with questions like a 2-year old, “but why? but how?”
After taking some time with google, I found out SO MUCH about CBD that my interest was piqued after about 10 mins of research.
There’s SO much to know about this new all natural supplement. I’m going to do my best to impart the knowledge I have about CBD and how it affects me on a daily basis. I’m going to let you make the decisions that are best for you. Remember, your health is paramount. Without health, you can’t work. You can’t go to work and make money. You will eventually get irritated at life the way I was. But, there is help.
CBD is the answer to MANY ailments. But, it’s not a silver bullet for anything. It’s also not a cure for any diseases. It’s mother nature’s safe, non-toxic, non-psychotic gift to us.
